So Shocked and Hurt by Betrayal?

Good Morning Saints!
I have been thinking about this topic for quite some time. Why? Well, as I look back over the times I have felt shocked or hurt over the betrayal of a friend, co-worker or loved-one, it amazes me to think that I was so blinded to the ways of mankind. I don't know about you, but I have been utterly bamboozled as to why someone would say, do or think cruel things about/to me. Why? I mean, why am I soooooo shocked? As a Christian, have I not read the Good Book and the numerous, countless, endless stories of betrayal, not the mention the most heartbreaking betrayal by Judas? Now, if we are the believers we say we are, and we have studied and are studying His Word, why do we think it "unbelievable" that another human being, maybe even someone we love...

  • lied to us?
  • stole from us?
  • talked negatively about us?
  • physically hurt us?
  • emotionally hurt us?
  • used us?
Yes, it is going to hurt! There's no way around it. Jesus cried out in the Garden of Gethsemane! So, from now on, we must try to get past that hurt, and move toward forgiveness. Move on, move away, think about the situation, return, stay away....but, by all means, move ahead, learn and forgive. We must look at ourselves as believers  who will be hurt, but not destroyed. There is no destruction with Christ as our Fortress. In the midst of the betrayal and after the betrayal, we must ask for a forgiving heart, for a heart most like Jesus' heart, a heart that expands, after a betrayal. Aren't you glad He was born for us, forgave us, and died for us? All we can do is try to be more like our Father every day....  Be blessed!

Scripture for the Day
Matthew 26: 36-39
36 Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” 37 He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”
39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”

To Blend or Not to Blend

Good Morning Saints!
Did you like the song by Ginny Owens? I thought it was perfect setting for Psalm 23. Today, the topic at hand is whether or not we should blend in with the rest of the crew at work, home, play, church, or wherever we might be. Let's face it, blending in is easy and nonthreatening. Plus, it's okay to blend in when the blending stands for the "right thing." But, how many times have we blended in or not rocked the boat because it was easier or it just didn't concern us-at least, not directly? Too many. And, yes, I'm talking about "not getting involved," also. Sometimes, people are ostracized, shunned, and left to suffer alone, because of something they did, said, or didn't do...wouldn't say. As Christians, we have to make sure we are standing on the side of what is right instead of on the side of those with might. This can be so difficult, as we don't want to be the one who is shunned. But, we have to stay steeped in His Word, ask for courage, and walk on the side that is written upon our hearts. As I think back to my younger years(that was a looonnng time ago;-), I realize that I was alone quite a bit-maybe what some would call a loner. Oh, I always talked to people, but I kept most of them at a distance, knowing there would be a price to pay: groups to join, people to like or not like. Nope, I wanted to be free to make my own alliances. This is somewhat selfish-a sheltering of the soul-unwillingness to share my heart. So, not blending can be a problem, too. No matter what road we take, blending or not blending, we must make sure we allow His Light to shine...through our words, actions and thoughts. Blessings, Saints!

Scripture of the Day
Matthew 5:13-15 (New International Version, ©2010)
Salt and Light
13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.

Never Go Alone

Good Morning Saints!
It is a blessing to be writing this morning. Have you ever felt alone in your walk with the Lord? All of us have felt this way, but it's not a "true" feeling. It is a feeling we get when we are absorbed in ourselves and swimming in hurt.  It happens to the best of us, but we have to swim-on until we reach higher ground. Yes, we do! Scripture tells us that he will not leave us and that we are His sheep(Deuteronomy 31:8).  When we feel despondent and discouraged we must stay steeped in His Word. His Word is our hiding place in our time of need. It is also our mountain-top in our time of gladness. I bring you this message because of the many people who share their lack of hope with me.And, my response: "I've been there, too." It is your job and mine to bring the Word to those who reach out to us. Our hope and restoration can only take place through His paths and guidance. It is up to us to hold-fast to His hand and know(Faith) that He is with us. If we stand still and ask for His touch, we WILL feel it, for He is real. This is something tangible that cannot be put into words; yet, it is still tangible...more real than all of these "things" in the physical world...just too awesome to explain, for our God is too great to put into words. Hang in there, saints, and don't forget to pray and ask for His hand. A brighter day is on the way! Blessings!

Saints, if you ever want me to pray for or with you, I will. Just send me a quick email and I WILL pray with you, always. Be blessed.

Scripture for the Day

Psalm 23

A psalm of David.

1 The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
 3 he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
   for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk
   through the darkest valley,[a]
I will fear no evil,
   for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
   they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
   my cup overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
   forever.

Are Ready for the New Year?

Good Morning Saints!
I hope you enjoyed yesterday's prayer. Today, I want to examine our path for the new year. As Christians, we are constantly asking for our paths to be guided by the Lord. However, I challenge you to go back over the past year and write down all of the "Stumbles" and "Celebrations" that occurred in your life since January 2010.  Divide your paper into two columns and label them, accordingly. I'm serious! This works! This exercise requires you to seriously "look-back."  Just take a few moments to sit down and examine your life, using this method.  If you keep a diary or journal, look through your entries from 2010. Examine the stumbles and celebrations;-) After you finish your list(you should make a list even if you have a journal), take the time to think about each event and how you reacted and why. Now, write down what you learned from examining these life events and what you will do in the future to cause more celebrations and hold your stumbles at-bay. Fortunately, no matter how hard we try, we will stumble.  Why is this a fortunate part of life? Well, with no stumbling, there's no learning--no realizing His grace--no need to humble ourselves in His Word. So, be thankful for your falls, but wise enough not to step in the same "cow-patty" twice;-) I hope you take the time to follow this exercise sometime before the new year. Take time to sit down and meditate on Him and how great he has been and how great He will continue to be. Many blessings, saints!

Scripture of the Day
Isaiah 30: 20-21

Though the Lord gave you adversity for food and suffering for drink,
He will still be with you
to teach you.
You will see your teacher
with your own eyes.
Your own ears will hear Him.

Right behind you a Voice will say,
“This is the way you should go,”
whether to the right or to the left.

Direct My Steps, Lord
Isaiah 30: 20-21
Though the Lord gave you adversity for food and suffering for drink,
He will still be with you to teach you. You will see your teacher
with your own eyes.
Your own ears will hear Him.
Right behind you a Voice will say,

“This is the way you should go,”
whether to the right or to the left.

Dear and Precious Lord,
There is so much that I want to accomplish for You, in this lifetime.
Yet, my thoughts are scattered and my path is unclear.
I ask that You clear my thoughts and direct my footsteps so that
I may be a vessel for Your work.
Place me where You want me to be.
Keep me safe in the face of danger.
Put the words in my mouth that You would have me say.
For, I know that I am useless without You, but made invincible,
with You at my side.
 Although I may be afraid,
give me the courage to set my fear aside, and follow Your path.
Remove all of my obstacles, Lord,
 And illuminate my way.
Let Your work be done, in me, through me, and in spite of me.
This, I ask, in
Your Most Holy Name….Amen.

Be Ready for the Arrows!

Good Morning Saints!
I hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend, in celebration of the Lord's birth. This morning, I am on the run.  I have to take my youngest to get his driving permit, "unbeknownst"(is that a word?) to me, until a few minutes ago.  So, forgive any mistakes, as I have no time to check everything. However, I wanted to leave you with something that has been on my heart this weekend and last Friday, as well. Remember the time of turmoil that spoke of in Friday's post? Well, the prayer at the end of this post was another outcry to the Lord. I knew that He was holding me, but I still wept, hurt, and wondered why I had to be subjected to this nonsense. Now, being a believer, I should have picked up my cross and bore this burden without complaint. I didn't. I fell short! I kept kicking that cross around and refusing it. "NO-I don't deserve this...Why me..."  But, you know what? He carried me all the way through this time of turmoil. He carried me when I thought I was alone. He carried me when I made terrible decisions. He carried me.... And, He will carry you too! Have a blessed day!
Scripture of the Day
Psalms 11:2 For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.

 The prayer reads:
Storms
Isaiah 38: 14
I cried like a swift or thrush,
I moaned like a mourning dove.
My eyes grew weak as I looked to the heavens.  I am troubled;                                                                                 O Lord, come to my aid!

Dear and Precious Lord,
The storm is raging….
My world is falling apart and I am too weak to think of my next steps.
I know that all I need to do, is turn my thoughts to You and You will deliver me from this pain, confusion, and emptiness that breaks my heart.
I have asked You:  “Why me?”
But, Lord, You have sealed the answer upon my heart:
“If not you, then who...?
Who would you wish this pain upon,
my child?”
And, my humble answer:
“No one.”
Oh, but how my heart breaks, even though
I know that You are by my side and holding me close.
Lord, I am lost and my faith is weak,
as my pain has clouded my path.
Just be with me, Lord, and carry me,
while I am too weak to walk with You.
Just carry me, dear Lord….Amen.

Open My Heart, Lord

Good Morning Saints!
I hope you are all ready for Christmas! I have a little more grocery shopping to do, but other than that, I'm done with running around. Today, I want to share a special prayer that I have written. First, let's go back to to how this prayer came about....

Years ago, while working in a horrible situation, I harbored a great deal of hate and resentment for a few people who had the authority and capacity to hurt me. Now, being a Christian and trying to follow in Christ's path, these characteristics are not in accordance with His Word. I prayed, meditated, stayed in His Word, and wrestled day and night, hour by hour, and minute by minute, in order to cleanse my heart and soul.  It was not easy, but I was finally free, and from that moment forward, I have looked at people differently--being less judgemental and more forgiving--not consistently, but more than I ever have before.  Of course, this is easier to do when you are not working with cruel people;-) But, I digress. This prayer was born out of my time of turmoil and I hope it will help you when and if you encounter horrid situations.
Be Blessed, Saints!!
Merry Christmas!

Scripture & Prayer for the Day
Open My Heart, Lord
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just
to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us
from all unrighteousness.

Dear and Precious Lord,
Please, open my heart….
Allow me to accept Your ways,
Your words, Your forgiveness,
 and Your love.
If only, I can hear a word from You,
I know that everything will
be all right.
My heart will be cleansed
and opened to You.
This simple prayer,
I ask of You,
My Savior,
My Christ,
My All.
 Amen
