Praisin' in the Rain!

Good Morning Saints!
I hope you had a great and relaxing weekend. Today, my heart rests upon praise and when we need to give it our all. Well, we should always give it our all. But, I feel that in the midst of the storm we learn to cry, praise and heal. Why, in a storm, does the most healing come our way? If we are not in the midst of a storm, our thoughts have a way of lingering lazily--I'm not saying that we don't praise but most of us tend not to be as focused in/on our praise. It is simply human nature. And, in order to rise above that humanness we must stay steeped in His Word. We need to praise, listen and steep every day in order to become better acquainted with the path God has appointed. However, in times of crisis, we have no other choice than to turn to Him or not. I choose to turn, stay still and listen. How about you? So, let's praise Him in all the seasons of our lives: the sweet glow of a new dawn, the very hot and sometimes, uncomfortable, afternoons, and in the darkest hour of midnights to come. He is worthy and we are are His children. Let's dance and praise, with wounded, yet restored souls. We were made to endure!

Last Week's Winner: Lovey! Thank you, Lovey for taking the time to comment in my blog!  I hope you enjoy the calendar and bookmark. Or, you may want to gift someone you love! Blessings!
Scripture for the Day
Acts 20:22-24
22 And see, now I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there, 23 except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains and tribulations await me. 24 But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

Doing My Thing or Following Someone Else?

Good Morning Saints,
Today, as I was reading my Bible and other spiritual readings, I thought about our need "to do something" in order to feel our "self-worth." When we are in constant movement and thought of "getting it done," we sometimes, miss the purpose or task we need to fulfill. For instance, we see others achieving tasks that we would like to achieve. Well, what the Lord has given them to do, may not be for you. It may look good, smell good, taste good, and sound good, but you need to "Step-Back," because it may not "be good" for you or those in your life. I know that this is difficult to accept, but you have specific tasks to accomplish for the Lord and that may mean "waiting"--AAARRGGHH! Oh, what a disturbing word for those of us who need "to do!!!" But, if we will be patient and wait, we will be ready for our next steps/tasks. For instance, I'll use a small example about myself: I see things that I would love to create. I love to craft! Other people seem to be creating and doing well---I don't want to be left behind! But, you know what? Every single time I do this, it is soooooooooo unfulfilling that I have to wonder why I wasted my time. Nowadays, I tend to admire, but if it doesn't give me a spiritual nudge, then it stops at admiration and I continue on my own personal creative voyage. It's as simple as that!

In waiting upon our tasks, we sometimes imitate others. Well, this may be a way of learning or branching out, but just remember, you have a very specific role/task to fulfill. You are SPECIAL and God has something JUST FOR YOU! You can imitate and copy others and they can imitate and copy you, but you are the ONLY ONE who can perform the deed like the Lord wants you to---and with the results He guarantees. So, don't be distressed or get tired of waiting. Listen to the Still Small Voice and be ready when He calls you to service. Blessings and Much love! See you, Monday.

Scripture for the Day
And he [the Lord] said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind and earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake:
And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

His Praise Shall Continually be in My Mouth

Good Morning Saints!
A good morning it is! Do you ever have days when His praise is heavy and decadently rich upon your heart? Well, this is the day for me. I feel good and I want you to feel good, too. What do you have to feel good about, today? If you're reading this, you have your ability to read and praise. You have the means to use technology. You have the mind to praise and care enough to check-in with me. You are a part of my life-that's so important to me! I could go on and on. Every believer has something to be thankful for; even the cow-patties(crap) that spill over onto our ice cream sundae. For, without that cow-patty we wouldn't learn to move our sundae to another spot and create a bigger and better sundae. Yep, cow-patties are a natural occurrence in our lives but it's how we see and manuever around the patties: Are we in the water with it, up to our necks and tired of swimming or are we sitting in a dinghy using our paddles to wade through it? Yep, there are different ways to wade through it---you just gotta' find yours and keep on paddling. It's kinda' like fertilizer: Some plants thrive and some just burn. You'll get to fresh water, soon. Much love a many blessings!

P.S. I may try to tweet today and show you my latest thin and cool coaster creation. I'm so excited!

Supporting Our Youth

Good Morning Saints!
Last week, as I meditated upon my morning readings, I was touched by the mention of supporting people for who they are and the gifts they bring to the table. Sometimes, out of love and concern, we want to see people we love, especially our children, do great things and achieve excellence. But, one thing we have to keep in mind is that their gifts and excellence may not be on the same scale as what we want for them. We have to remind ourselves that God created everyone--He created them fearfully & wonderfully(Psalm 139:13-14). We have to keep this in mind--make it our mantra--when dealing with people, especially children. Yeah, maybe they are not using the gifts God gave them, but, you know what? Let's remind them of their gifts by giving positive feedback on their accomplishments and providing help when they ask. And, remember, providing help doesn't mean taking over, parents;-) Much love! Get out there and encourage our youth! Blessings!

Jesus Freaks

Good Morning Saints!
Checking in a little late, this morning. I hope you are doing well. Today, I want to discuss a title I've heard often and have been called: Jesus Freaks. Well, I certainly can't deny it. I am a Jesus freak. I believe in the Living God and in my eyes, that's Christ. People are always looking to label you and place you in categories. I know that I do this, too--tryin' to break the habit. When I was called a Jesus freak, I frowned upon the person and didn't confirm their thinking. Now, as I look back, I should have jumped for joy and confirmed their suspicions. But, I'm here today, to say that I'm glad to be a Jesus freak. The longer I live, the more mistakes I will make. The more mistakes I make, the more I will learn. The more I learn, the less of my past mistakes I will make. The less of my past mistakes I make, the more I understand Christ's strength within me. So, yeah, I'm a Jesus freak and lovin' it. You go, Saints! Have a blessed day.

Give-Away Week of January 23rd, 2011: Calendar and Bookmark Set

Just Wastin' Your Time?

Good Morning Saints!
I announced the winner of the African American Angel Stationery, yesterday afternoon: Eleana! I hope she gets in touch with me, soon. Today, I want to discuss wasting time and not living up to our potential. Now, there are 2 ways you can look at this. Some of you may feel that we all need to run this race swiftly and adeptly. But, some of you may feel that we need to take our time and see what happens along the way. Now, think of all the people close to you that fit into one of these categories. Use your closest relatives, as this is where the heart is. We generally categorize people, which is not a great thing to do;-)

Without a doubt there are people that we "wish" more for, if only they would work harder and run faster. Then, there are those who are always moving and shaking-you know-getting somewhere in this old life! Which one of these people is living up to their potential? Both! The Lord has a different plan for each and every one of us and we don't and can't understand the path that has been carved. We can barely understand what we need to do, let alone the path for our loved-ones. So, the next time you think someone is "really sorry excuse for a human being" or "a role model for the rest of us" just know that their path has been carved especially for them and pray that they are walking closely with the Lord. Meanwhile, make sure you are staying on your path, which is a daily load, by itself. It's great to have concern and show concern for others, but, first and foremost, we need to keep the weeds, snakes and briar bushes swept from our own paths--then, and only then, can we even attempt to help a brother or sister pick a few weeds.  Blessings Saints!

My Heart Can See Your Color, If I Love You

Good Morning Saints!
I hope you enjoyed yesterday's post. Today, the discussion is the same but from a different angle. Early-on, in the 80's and 90's, we all thought being colorblind was the way to go. And, it probably was for that time. Today, we are more curious about different behaviors and viewpoints...more apt to make our own assessments of our friends, co-workers and neighbors. and, for the most part, more accepting of people....for the most part. There are still "hairy alligators" out there on every side of the skin color spectrum who are extremist and desire to destroy those who do not look like, think like, believe like, and worship like they do.

The people we talk to and our online friends may be from a different part of the world and have different skin colors, beliefs, religions and cultures. The world is opening-up! I like to call it, "blooming." Guess what? It's okay to have a friend, spouse, co-worker who is "different" than you or your relatives. Although we would like to think it was okay years ago, too, there was still a lot of fear of retribution. Hey, it's still there, today, but not in the same way. But, it's there, lurking in dark corners waiting for the narcissistic, lost, cast-out, rejected or hurting souls. That's why we, as believers, must use our talents and strengths to reach those who are marginalized, as their perception is their reality.

Today, as we notice the differences of our brothers and sisters of the world, we are more able to celebrate and accept those differences. So, on the flip side of  "My Heart Can't See Your Color, If You Love Me," we have "My Heart Can See Your Color, If You Love Me." It's all in your perspective: Your skin color/ethnicity doesn't matter and/or your skin color/ethnicity is a celebration. Saints, let's continue to allow our hearts to be over-filled with joy and love for our brothers and sisters, to the point that we are colorblind AND color-conscious, embracing, celebrating and lifting each other. He's Got the Whole World in His Hands! Blessings!

Scripture for the Day
 Job 26:7-9, 11-14
"He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing. He wraps up the waters in his clouds, yet the clouds do not burst under their weight. He covers the face of the full moon, spreading his clouds over it. The pillars of the heavens quake, aghast at his rebuke. By his power he churned up the sea.... By his breath the skies become fair.... And these are but the outer fringe of his works; how faint the whisper we hear of him! How then can we understand the thunder of his power?"

My Heart Can't See Your Color, If I Love You

Morning Saints!
Today, I want to discuss skin color. Yep, it's a touchy subject. But, I'm going to do it, anyway. Have you ever noticed that when you really care for someone, their skin color sorta' disappears? This happens with the love of a friend, spouse, child, neighbor, or someone you respect. They may say or do things that we don't like, but their okay because we love them. What if we could say that more often? What if we could love people more? What if we could forgive each other more? There are a lot of "what-ifs" that we can actively put into action, today. Let's consciously go about our day, looking at the people we work with, live with, and go to school with. Do we treat them differently because of their skin color? For instance, do we make allowances for them because they don't "get it"? Do we ignore them because they are too different? Do we stay away from them because they are too ethnic(our same ethnicity or not)? Oh yeah, we stay away from those that have the same skin color, too! Why? Do we welcome them because they think like us? Do we smile at them because we want them to feel like they are "okay"? Now, it's not so much "what" we do, but "why" we are doing it. We should smile at/with others, but let's look closely at "why" we are doing it.

I have many friends of different skin colors and ethnic backgrounds and I can honestly say that I am more comfortable with some than others? Why? Our differences and similarities. Yep! And, I'm open to telling them, too. This helps both of us to grow(I only do this with people I feel close to or want to feel close to, which has not always been rewarding).  Look around you and figure out who you are comfortable with and why or why not. Take a look at that skin and measure the degree in which it plays a role. For some, it may be a big factor. For others, it may be less of a factor. No matter what your conclusion, try to get a better view of who you are and how you see those around you. That's the only way our behaviors change and our hearts expand. Our Lord desires that we love each other as we love ourselves. And, believe me, that is a lifelong task, being easier to think and write about than actually put into practice. I'll be the first one to admit it. Be blessed, saints!

P.S. I have been through a great deal of diversity training and am interested in your comments and thoughts. Tomorrow, the topic will be: My Heart CAN See Your Skin Color, If I Love You.

Tearing You Down to Stand Up

Good Morning Saints!
I trust you had a relaxing day off, if you were lucky enough to have a paid holiday yesterday;-)  I know that I sent you a post last week about only posting on Friday's, but that just won't do. I feel compelled to write! Today's topic is around tearing others down. Have you ever noticed that some people cannot feel good unless you are miserable?  If they are miserable you must be miserable with them..? Well, I'm here to tell you that I believe in sharing the misery of others, as the Bible tells us to do so. We must carry the burdens of others and be their shoulder to rest upon. However, I believe there is a difference in bearing burdens and distress with others and allowing them to walk all over your back for their entertainment. When the latter is the case, the believer must pray, first, and ask for strength to handle the situation, accordingly. For, without God's counsel we may think, say, or do the "wrong" thing in rectifying the situation. So, believers remember to stand up in His Word(not our own) and bear the burdens of others, while being humble and strong, at the same time. A tall order, huh?

Scripture of the Day

Be Strong In The Lord
 Ephesians 6:10 -11
"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."

I'm Walkin'

Good Morning Saints!
Someone asked me why I refer to Believers as "Saints." Well, in many gospel songs saints are referred to as sinners who have fallen and gotten back up. So, in my eyes, we are all sinners and saints if we claim to be believers. We will always fall but if we are Believers, we believe that Christ died for our sins and gifted us with salvation. This allows us to learn from our mistakes, forgive ourselves, and get to walkin' in His path again!

Scripture for the Day

Romans 4:1-8 (New International Version, ©2010)

1 What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, discovered in this matter? 2 If, in fact, Abraham was justified by works, he had something to boast about—but not before God. 3 What does Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”[a]
4 Now to the one who works, wages are not credited as a gift but as an obligation. 5 However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness. 6 David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the one to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:
 7 “Blessed are those
   whose transgressions are forgiven,
   whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the one
whose sin the Lord will never count against them.”[b]

Republican, Democrat, Independent, Believer...?

Good Morning Saints,
On Friday, I ended the week discussing the fact that sorrow lurks around the corner and we have no need to look for it or chase it. Instead, we need to prepare our hearts to deal with it--giving to the Lord, and move forward. This morning, it rests heavily upon my heart, the shooting of the congresswoman, little girl and others. This is a touchy subject, but not as touchy as the taking of lives over differing views. Our world history is riddled with these types of outbursts. I am not talking about fighting for "survival or protection," but out of dislike and hate. Our views and opinions lead us to kill and maim each other to get our views across, whether it be in the name of politics, religion or/and love. We must hold on to the wonderful fact that this world is a better place because of the vast differences in opinions. Killing each other or those that differ with you, is not the answer. It never was and it never will be, for in the end we will realize that the cycle of hate kills not only the hated but those that hate, also. It is a circle of doom for everyone, no matter what your views may be. When we think about what Jesus would do, do we we envision Him taking a gun to His enemies(and they were plentiful) if they would not accept Him? No. He gave us the wonderful gift of choice. We have to practice extending that liberty to our fellow man or woman, as well.  I have to believe that we did not reach out to the hurting soul of this young troubled man and suffered the consequences. We have to reach out to those who are hurting, although it means risking our hearts.  Philippians 2:4 - "...do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others."  Is there someone in your community, church or workplace who seems a little hurt, sad, unstable? Let them know you care by smiling or speaking. That smile could plant the smallest seed of hope in their hearts. You can only try--one smile and positive word at a time.  Let's be diligent in our prayers for the young man who was mentally unstable and committed this act, as well as the grieving families, and our world. Blessings, Saints.

Tomorrow May Bring Sorrow...Can You Hang?

Good Morning Saints!
This morning, as I meditate on His Word, I am thinking about the many sorrows that follow us in this life. I believe sorrow is a part of our growth, in that we must learn to deal with our sorrow by "handing it over" to God.  Alone, we cannot make ourselves joyful, but we can ask the Lord to shelter our hearts and send us a deep joy that cannot be touched by this world. This is how I have always handled life's sorrows----at least, this is how I handle them after I wallow around in them and realize that I don't have the answer, but God does;-) So let's keep our minds and hearts lifted with His Word and go about our lives loving and lifting others. Oh, and loving others is difficult, as we are filled with ourselves quite a bit, but we can do it with His help. We know that sorrow is lurking around the corner, but we can deal with anything and anyone that comes our way, IF we continue to trust in His Word and not our wisdom. Therefore, I will not look for sorrow, for I know it's there. Instead, I will lift myself up through His Word and in His Presence, concentrating on His Path for my life and I challenge you to do the same. Be blessed and loved, Saints!
