Got Your Ticket?

Good Morning Saints!
This morning, as I read my Bible and other readings, something really stuck with me: Do I have my ticket to see the Lord or am I just sitting in line? Sometimes, I think I have my ticket and am ready to go and other times, I feel that I am content to stand in line and "wait my turn." The latter is unacceptable. We always have to be ready to go with the Lord. Everyday, we need to reaffirm our faith and take His Hand. This is a DAILY, HOURLY, MINUTE-BY-MINUTE, SECOND-TO-SECOND, walk. We can't just think about our ticket on Sundays or whenever we attend church services. We must have our ticket in our pocket and be ready to board every day. Think about your ticket, Saints. Is it ready? Have you gotten past customs? Love Ya' Much!

Scripture for the Day
John 14:1-10 (New International Version, ©2011)

Jesus Comforts His Disciples
1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God[a]; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” 6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know[b] my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.

Writing, Singing, Dancing... A Therapeutic Praise!

Good Morning Saints!
Hope you are faring well. I still have more work to do on my taxes, but the worst is over! Yeah! Just gotta' spend a few hours totaling things and I'm done! I hope you are working on yours, too! Don't put it off! Get that junk done and over with. I know people who wait until the last minute and it ain't pretty;-)

Have you ever wondered why and how some people make it through the toughest of times? Well, I'm here to tell you that the people I know and have known, make it through those times with prayer, praise and rejoicing. And, everyone does this differently: Some through reading the Word--writing about their troubles and continuing to praise---singing and raising their voices in agony and praise--dancing in the storm while the sea is raging. For myself--I write like a crazed maniac, in my journal and on this blog. It soothes my mind and lifts my spirits. What do you do to alleviate your stress and turn it into praise and worship? Shout back! Blessings, Saints!

Does Your Religion Interfere with Loving Others?

Good Morning Saints,
I have a question for you: Does your religion interfere with loving others? If it does, is it really based on love or exclusion? We have to be so careful embracing beliefs and mannerisms thoughtlessly or taking words of wisdom    out of context. Now, this is difficult to do. It is absolutely, "no easy task." I believe that we must stay in constant prayer and steeped in His Word in order to love others the way Christ loves us. We have to stay away from condemnation, for we have our hands full taking care of our own sins and asking for forgiveness. I challenge you to examine your religion, culture and beliefs, in general, and dissect them. Remember, anything that man has built will be flawed. In fact, as soon as we "get our two feet" into anything, it becomes tainted by our experiences and thoughts--it's just human and unavoidable. That doesn't mean that we can't do great things and love people. It's just necessary that we understand our limitations and know that we need God in order to perform at our best. We just have to make sure we are aware of this and constantly lifting our thoughts, words, and deeds to Him. Many blessings!

Easter and Thoughts of Sacrifice

Good Mornin' Saints!
Easter is right around the corner! This holiday brings back many memories of childhood. For instance, when I was very little(5-8 years old), I remember pretty pastel ruffled dresses, pink and yellow Easter baskets filled with goodies and attending church(eagerly awaiting the Easter-egg hunt, afterwards). Soon, these "fun times" gave way to a more sophisticated understanding of Easter and its meaning, thanks to my family and the Sisters of Mercy(nuns) that taught at my school. The same year that I became more aware of Christ and the meaning of Easter, an article about a little girl who manifested nail wounds and bleeding from the palm of her hands, set off a series of stigmata research for me. At that time, we didn't have computers, so the local library became my best friend. I found numerous articles siting saints and others who manifested similar wounds of Christ's crucifixion. Of course, most of the research was limited and still is. However, Easter has remained a dear and spiritual holiday for me. Like many of you, I create a huge meal in celebration of the Lord's rising-new hope and life-for believers. You will find a few of the prayers/crafts I have written/created for this holiday, showcased below. Blessings!

Scripture for the Day
Colossians 3:1-4

So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth, for you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in glory.

Standing Up is Difficult, but Essential

Good Morning Saints,
I would like to discuss something that has been on my heart: Standing Up! Sometimes, in our quest to be more accommodating and to avoid conflict, we tend to "give-in" or not make waves. And, this may be the role you are to play in certain situations. But, what about the times that you know certain actions and words are just plain wrong or indecent? I believe the Lord has put us in certain places at certain times, to speak up, as this helps you and those who are committing the act. Sometimes, people are missing the "love and care" factor in their personalities and tend to go through this world seeking and destroying without a second thought. Now, I'm not saying that you should go out and start telling everyone what they are doing wrong, because you have your own share of wrong-doing to control;-) However, I am saying that you have to speak up in situations where you have been placed.

I can tell you from my own experience that this is a very difficult and lonely situation in which to be placed---difficult, because it takes courage and determination not to back down---lonely, because people will tend to shy away from you, even if they agree and are glad you had the nerve to speak up. People are afraid of those who are courageous, as you carry a bit of danger about you--maybe, they are afraid of losing their job if they talk to you--maybe, you have spoken-up when they always wanted to have the courage to do so, which causes envy. There are a myriad of reasons that "standing up" causes problems, but it is essential to your well-being and the well-being of others. I did this in the workplace for many years, in many different situations and it is difficult. However, when the Lord is your guide, you can withstand the opposition. I, now, have my own business, Prayer Notes by Cynthia, and I am enjoying every bit of it. The tests that I withstood in the workplace have girded me with strength and determination in this new adventure.

Before you step out and become the next courageous person, make sure that you are well-feed on His Word and are wearing His Armor, as the arrows will be fiery and piercing. And, always ask the Lord whether or not this is "for you" to do. He will lead you in the paths you should take. Many blessings, saints!

Scripture for the Day
Ephesians 6:10-17 (New International Version, ©2011)
The Armor of God
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Whispers: Good or Bad?

Mornin' Saints,
Today, during my meditation time, I read a lesson from ODB that really got me to thinking about how we are perceived when whispering a comment to another. I know that I become mildly curious when people are whispering. Sometimes, I wonder if it is about me or if there is something happening that I am missing. But, for the most part, I discount their whispering quickly and go about my business. There are many references in the Bible that look upon whispering in a negative light. If one thinks about this for a while, whispering can very likely be taken as negative. Now, there are many times that we are whispering to our kids to  behave or pointing out something to a spouse or friend. In fact, I want to believe that most times, it's an innocent comment or observation being made during an inopportune time to speak aloud, that causes us to whisper.  The "whispering" in the Bible refers to unpleasant comments and unsavory words about a situation or person. Either way we look at it, we must be careful whispering about each other or situations, overall, if it makes others uncomfortable.  If we are ashamed to shout it, then we should probably not whisper it, either. Food for thought. Blessings!

Scripture of the Day
Proverbs 16:28
 A perverse man sows strife,
And a whisperer separates the best of friends.

Happy Friday and Winner of This Week's Craft

Good Morning Saints!
This Friday, I'd like to discuss anger and wrath. We have all probably experienced anger in some form or fashion. It may have been toward a loved-one, co-worker, neighbor, or friend. But, the bottom line remains: As believers, we must forgive and move forward. Anger is a huge stumbling block in our faith when we cannot move  forward and forgive. It serves as our albatross. So, how do we move on? We ask for forgiveness from our Father in Heaven. We ask that He would take away this "dirtiness" that invades our minds and that he would cleanse our hearts. And, I believe we should pray and ask this of our Lord every time our anger tries to return. Guess what? We can't do this by ourselves and the Lord is so ready to assist us, if only, we will ASK! Be blessed, saints and have a wonderful Friday!

Happy Faces!

Good Morning Saints!
Forgot to write yesterday---brain poot, I guess!;-) I hope this morning finds you feeling well and spiritually awakened. Yesterday, I worked on a series of happy face/smiley face note pads for kids. But, I've been thinking that I need to make them for adults, too. I really want one, myself;-) We need to keep our minds on the "Higher Things" in life and keep positive thoughts at the forefront of our minds. Every time we have cause to grieve, we need to find another cause to celebrate. We are abundantly blessed, but soon forget our blessings when a tragedy occurs. In fact, our blessings outweigh the mountains, but we treat them like mirror-images--we can see them for awhile, but are easily distracted by a negative word, deed or thought. So, today's challenge: Keep turning back to your blessings, for HE is waiting for you to recognize! Blessings!

Spring is Almost Here!

Good Morning Saints!
I love Spring!!! Being from Colorado, spring means more snow, but I don't care! At least, there are days that are close to 70 degrees. I think the buds on the trees and little flowers peeking out, are a reminder of New Birth-a time to begin, again. Of course, every day is a new beginning! Today, you are given a chance to right your wrongs and bury your old attitudes. So, give it a try! Every time, you dig up old hurts and attitudes of the past, it drags you down. Christ doesn't want us living in the past, for there are too many tasks at hand. We have work to do for the Kingdom. People are watching us and we need to give them a beautiful view of HIS work and how life can be living in HIS ways and paths. We need to keep our minds cleansed and free of cow-patties. So, my challenge for you: Kick the old to the side(try to bury it DEEP after you have learned everything you can from it) and point your mind forward to a new you. Every time the "old" comes back to haunt you(and, it will!), just call HIS name and keep moving! Take care, saints and have a great day~

Buzzin' for the Lord!

Good Morning Saints!
I feel blessed to be able to touch base with you, this morning. You know, not one day is promised, so we must take full advantage of every day and strive to enjoy it. We must "buzz" for the Lord! All weekend, I thought about the many ways in which we can give thanks to the Lord. There are so many ways:

  • We can help those around us.
  • We can send money to those who are in need.
  • We can volunteer at shelters.
  • We can volunteer our services at church.
  • We can read to children in the public library.
  • We can volunteer in our public schools.
  • We can write about His goodness.
  • We can share the joys and sorrows of our co-workers.
No matter how we choose to spread the joy and love that we feel, we must first ask for His guidance and stay steeped in His Word and Ways. Write back and let me know how you serve the Lord. It's exciting to hear about your service. We must help and motivate each other in our daily Walk with The Great I AM!! Take care and have a wonderful day, saints!

No Financial Burdens?!

Good Morning Saints!
It's already a nice day, here in Denver. Have you thought about what you would do with your life if your bills were worries about money...just free to do whatever you wanted to do, on a daily basis?  I wonder how many of us would stay steeped in prayer and immersed in the Word? Would we stretch our potential--reaching out to bring others to the Kingdom?  I don't know. But, I think we may become a little complacent in our "following" of the Lord. You see, in our struggle to live up to our potential everyday, we are pressed to overcome obstacles thrown in our paths. And, in turn, our backs become stronger, and the burdens not as bothersome. Our gathering of other followers becomes a mission, for we know, through our own burdens, that we have a Comforter. I'm curious to hear your opinions about freedom from all financial burdens. Do you think you would be as steadfast in your Kingdom-walk? Do you feel you would be as diligent in gathering others into the fold? Blessings!

Searching for Favor

Mornin' Saints,
It is only human nature that we search for favor in our fellow man. However, it is not something we should allow to rule our lives. When making friends with someone, we are sizing up their words and thoughts, even if we are unaware of what we are doing. But, as believers, we need to seek the favor of Christ, first, then all other favor falls into place. If you are walking in His ways and working hard to stay in His paths, He will lead you to favor with those whom He has chosen. And, guess what? You'll find that you receive the favor of many, even those who are up to "no-good." But, you must ask for discernment and stay close to Him, for the wolves have falsely bright and pleasing words, also. Having the favor of influential, but dead-hearted people is NOT what we need as believers. Their favor is dead and shallow and nothing like the favor of our Living God. So, saints, as you go about your daily routines, giving your best at whatever you do, bask in His favor and lend your blessing to others. Many blessings!

Last Week's Winner and Blessings!

Good Morning Friends!
Wow! This has been one busy morning! Today, as I had my morning meditation and reading, I came across a lesson that spoke of  "small things."  It really touched my heart and made me think about how often we go along with our daily routines and think nothing of them--it's just what we do. But, the Lord works through us in everything we do. For instance, on your routine trip to the grocery store, you may say hello or help someone who has dropped something-it could be anything. But, your "anything" may mean the world to someone else. So, as we go along, about our way, let's keep doing the "small things," knowing that we are being used to raise Him. Be blessed!

I Love You, This Much!! Really?

Good Morning Saints,
During my meditation this morning, I realized how lacking we are in His ways. For instance, take a few minutes to think of a person who has been cruel to you or to those that you love, in some form or fashion. Close your eyes and think about the things this person did to make your life miserable. Maybe, it is a co-worker, parent, fellow student, friend, or even a spouse who pops into your mind.---Just a downright despicable being. Now, think of all of the people who hated Jesus, for one reason or another. He died for these people. Silence and a little uneasiness. What did He ask of His Father, as He hang there on the cross?

"Father forgive them, for they know not what they do."

Now, ask yourself, "Am I willing to die for this abuser, that they may dwell with the Father?" The correct answer is yes. But, on any given day, if you catch us at the wrong time, we might just scream, "NO WAY!" Oh yeah, I can hear that coming out of my mouth. I can also feel the "repentance" seeping into my soul.  And, eventually, I can see me giving-in, but not readily. So, we know that we have to stay steeped in His Word and Ways, constantly, for we are weak and allow our emotions to play a role in our love.  You see, Jesus died for us, even though we spat in His face and laughed at His Works. Some of you may be saying, "I wouldn't have done this--it was the Jews!" Give me a physical break! Your culture, heritage, or ethnicity has nothing to do with preserving "SELF."  If soldiers had stormed into your house threatening to kill your babies, wife, husband or you, you would have denied Him just like Peter. So, let's be careful pointing fingers at those who don't feel, believe, pray and practice like us, as we are just as flawed as EVERYONE else. And, if we think we are better, we are already doomed. If we are the Christians we say we are, then there's no time to point the finger at others. Keep your self-righteous finger pointed inward and you will walk closer to His path, readying yourself for His return. Remember, evil has a way of making friends with good, and pulling it down to Hell. Be blessed and stay true, saints!

You Are So Nice!?

Good Morning Saints!
Have you ever wondered why people think you are nice, sweet...and, so on? Well, if you are a believer, it's probably NOT anything you have done. I believe it is the Holy Spirit! The more we hold tight to His Hand, the more His Face shines through us. It's about giving ourselves to Him and letting go of our earthly desires, so it's fair to say that His image comes and goes, as we walk closer or farther away from His Hand. Let's stay close, so that we can be more like Him in thought, word and deed. Be blessed and happy Friday!
