By His Grace, Only

Good Morning Saints,
I hope this post finds you still hanging-on to the Father's Hand. Today, my heart rests upon the storm clouds that seem to rage and persist in the midst of our lives. You know, I have lived almost 50 years and have been privy to my share of storms and tsunamis. Yep, a few of them almost took me home to my Heavenly Father, but I held on....  Sometimes, I held on for the sake of my family; sometimes, for the sake of those looking to me for guidance-friends, students, parents, teachers; sometimes, for the sake of making liars out of those who sought my demise. Other times, I simply held on for my sake, because I wanted to live. But, through all of these various storms, I've learned one thing: Keep holding His Hand and He will lift you out of the pits of Hell. I am a living example and I'm not at all proud of it. Why? Because, I am humbled and awed by the amazing love and power of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Oh, yes, I am here, today, in spite of my ignorance and the ignorance of others.

Saints, take a purposeful look at the life you have lived...the situations you have survived...the manure you have waded-through...the misplaced loyalties and trust...and, give thanks to the Lord for bringing you through the complexities of life. For, it was only through His Grace that you are still here. Now, for those of you who have been sheltered from the storms, do not be misled into thinking that you were lucky to have not experienced serious storms, and that you have always been safe. Simply said: You were kept by Him, while  walking in the midst of danger and peril.  If you sit quietly and think about the places you have been and the rodes you have traveled, you will realize that it is only by His will that you are here, today. So, be still saints and take the time to send sweet love and tender words of thanks to your Father, for He has worked miracles that you have taken for granted. Be blessed and pay it forward!

Taking Advantage of Down-Time and Tiredness

Good Morning Saints,
I missed writing last week! Boy, was I tired! But, you know what? I took advantage of this down-time. Instead of feeling sorry for myself, which I can do quite well, I decided to stay steeped in His Word and continuously ask Him to send His Holy Spirit to comfort, confront and correct my life. Now, this was not easy. It felt like thorns in my soul...tossing my thoughts about and confronting all principalities not relating to His Walk. Although I feel refreshed and replenished, I am still a little uneasy--not physically, but on an emotional level. This uneasiness arrives with learning more about myself and how much more I need to grow in the Lord.

This morning, saints, I challenge you to use your vacation days and down-time to meditate and refresh your soul. You will feel magnificent, but a little uneasy about your "personal truths," as they open your eyes to the core of who you are and who you want to become. All of us are striving, every day, to become more like Jesus and we know that we will fall short in our walk. But, the Good News is: He walks with us every step of the way, allowing us to stumble, but ready to lend His Hand as we reach for comfort. Let us look forward to our time alone and expect and welcome confrontation and correction from the Holy Spirit. Be blessed saints!

Scripture for the Week

Psalm 51

New King James Version (NKJV)
 1 Have mercy upon me, O God,
         According to Your lovingkindness;
         According to the multitude of Your tender mercies,
         Blot out my transgressions.
 2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
         And cleanse me from my sin.
